Marein Smits has been practising corporate law since 1997 and has extensive experience in M&A transactions (acquisitions, participations and refinancings), private equity transactions, cross-border and Dutch joint ventures, large family businesses in the Netherlands and their issues with regard to continuity, succession and shareholder disputes.
Her clients are to be found in industrial and business services, food and non-food retail, construction, healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry.
Marein has been a partner at Wintertaling since 2012.

Marein studied Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam (1996) and philosophy at Leiden University (1992).
Until 2011, Marein was a partner in Corporate M&A at Boekel de Nerée (now Dentons).
