Martin Poelman

Martin provides legal advice to his clients (including litigation) on matters relating to corporate and company law, insolvency law, competition law and civil law. He is based in Amsterdam but also operates from a representative office of the firm at Eindhoven Airport (Flight Forum 40 Eindhoven).

Track record

Martin has been involved in several landmark cases in the area of private enforcement of competition law. In the area of European law (including competition law) he cooperates with Brussels based Italian lawyer Avv. Massimo Moretto. Furthermore, Martin has also frequently acted as liquidator and administrator in insolvency proceedings. With 2 colleagues he was appointed as administrator (trustee) in the suspension of payments proceedings of defence company Aerospace & Vehicle Systems B.V. (formerly known as DAF Special Products B.V.). More recently he was involved in a major ‘pre-pack’-operation.


Martin graduated in Dutch law at Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen and obtained a Master’s degree in European Judicial Studies at the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht. Later he completed, inter alia, several specialist courses in the area of insolvency law.

Martin is a member of the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (CCPH), the Dutch association of insolvency practitioners (INSOLAD) and the Dutch Association for Competition Law.

His previous senior positions include senior legal counsel for Philips International and partnerships at the law firms of (the predecessor of) Holla and Banning.

Martin speaks English, German, French and Portuguese.
